We often hear the expression “choose one’s words carefully”. We all know that, but do we always do it? Too often, at least for me, I wish I hadn’t said something or wish I had said it a bit differently. To this end, two of my favorite proverbs speak to this challenge:
"A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1, NIV)."
"He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity (Proverbs 21:23, NIV)."
These pearls of wisdom help me to think before I speak. Maybe they will also help you.
