There is much discussion about why so few of us successfully use goals and objectives in our work and our lives. Last year, a new book, The Four Disciplines of Execution by Chris McChesney, Sean Covey and Jim Huling cited four main reasons that I think are compelling. They are:
- They don’t know the goals (no goals, too many goals, or unclear goals).
- They don’t know how to achieve them (not broken into implementable steps).
- They don’t keep score (don’t know if they are on track or not).
- There are not held accountable (boss not tracking).
If you would like to enhance your skills at using goal-setting to become more successful and get more done, perhaps this can help. Or, contact us for some individual help.
